Mocktails with cranberry juice are a good choice to offer non-drinking guests at a cocktail party. The cranberry adds a great snap to mocktails that takes the place of the snap of alcohol in cocktails. Find more Cranberry-Based Mocktails in the Maran Illustrated Bartending book.

The Hollywood is an interesting mix of fruit flavors that one may not think of at first as a possible combination. Realistically, the dark black raspberry and light pineapple work well together in a sort of yin and yang relationship. The Hollywood (sometimes called a Raspberry Smash) is a rather popular juice drink, and one that bartenders should know. If you prefer, the Hollywood Martini is a neat version of this rocks juice recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz black raspberry liqueur
- pineapple juice
- pineapple chunk for garnish

The story of how the French 75 became popular and received it’s name is said to be that it was the drink of returning WWI fighter pilots. It was drank as a celebration for coming home and in remembrance of those killed in battle. The French 75 was also an artillery weapon which, like the drink, was known for it’s kick.
This drink can be made with brandy in place of the gin. There is controversy as to which version is the real French 75. To add another twist, if the same drink is made with vodka for the base spirit, it is a French 76.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/4 oz lemon juice or sour mix
- 1/4 oz gin
- 1/4 oz Cointreau
- 5 oz Champagne
