Similar to the Hot Toddy, my recipe for Warm ‘n’ Toasty is a fruity rendition of the classic hot drink. In this drink I’ve skipped the tea for hot water, but it’s also great with a light lavender tea. The grenadine’s fruitiness sets off the bourbon’s sweet and bitter qualities. Best of all, it’s all warmed up so it’s perfect for a lazy winter day.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz grenadine
  • hot water to fill
  • orange wheel for garnish
  • cinnamon stick for garnish

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 oz brandy or blended whiskey
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1/4 lemon
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tea bag

Of course the drink named for the biggest child star in history contains no alcohol. Shirley Temple sang, danced and smiled her way into hearts during the Great Depression in movies such as Bright Eyes and Stand Up And Cheer. She was awarded a miniature Oscar and later became a notable politician and diplomat.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 oz lemon-lime soda
  • 3 oz ginger ale
  • 1 dash grenadine
  • maraschino cherry for garnish
