A delightful evening spent with The Cooksister delving into some foodie delights courtesy of Italian-deli site San Lorenzo.

A super burst of ripe, almost sweet, fruit initially with plenty of cherry and blackcurrant flavours. Perfectly drinkable but could do with a little more age to come together - being open a-while helped in opening out the palate adding hints of spice and vanilla to a really nice wine.

Tim Laird, Canadian Mist Whisky’s Chief Cocktail Officer, explained to me that sometimes the simplest drinks can make the biggest impact. The Misty Maple Leaf he shook up is one of those that made a lasting impression. Laird’s theory behind this drink (and most drinks he makes with the subtly sweet whiskey) is to keep the drinks simple, but compliment the whiskey with maxed out flavors. This sweet dessert drink focuses on one of the great flavors of the north, maple syrup. Garnish or serve alongside this drink a few of those maple-flavored candies that are shaped like a maple leaves for a complete maple experience.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 oz Canadian Mist Whisky
- 1/2 oz maple syrup
- splash of soda
